Drawing is reading. Picking letters as apricots. Where does the drawing beginning in a text, a poem begin? Where is the passage — where reading and note making pass over to drawing? Can this inbetween zone be described as tangency — drawing and writing as adjacent — and tangency as tentative vision, vision as tentative line?
“Two beautiful anvil clouds low on the earthline in opposite quarters, so that I stood between them.”
(Gerald Manly Hopkins)
